Is your kitchen long overdue for a serious cleaning? If so, there’s no better time than the present to do just that. Cleaning your kitchen will help to make it more sanitary and more comfortable to
use. If you haven’t deep cleaned your kitchen in a while, you may be wondering how you should approach the job. Here are some tips to get you started.
Start with the easy tasks.
Deep cleaning your kitchen can seem like a formidable project, so it’s a good idea to begin with the simplest, easiest chores. Get all your dishes clean—by hand or using the dishwasher—and
put them away. Wipe down your countertops and put away any stray food containers or kitchen equipment.
Spend some time on your refrigerator.
First, remove everything from your refrigerator and look closely at it—starting with the most perishable items, of course. Throw out any expired food, or anything you don’t want. Take out your fridge’s shelves and drawers. Then, clean them using soap and water. Dry and replace them, then put the food back.
Clean your other appliances.
Next, it’s time to tackle cleaning appliances such as your toaster and your microwave—after making sure that they’re unplugged, of course. Wipe down the inside of your microwave until you’ve removed all traces of food. To clean your dishwasher, add some baking soda and then run it on empty.
Scrub your kitchen floor.
Finally, you can focus on getting your floor clean. If there are any built-up stains, you may need to use a sponge and soapy water. Otherwise, you can sweep up any dirt and debris, and then
finish the job using a mop. You can use a damp towel to get your baseboards clean. When you’re finished, make sure that the floor has completely dried before you try to walk on it.
